Book 3 to 4 weeks out for a local move and 6 to 8 weeks out for a long-distance move. Summer weekends and month-end dates fill first, so earlier is safer if your date is fixed.

Local moves are quoted at a flat hourly rate after a walkthrough. Long-distance moves receive a binding, not-to-exceed price once we've completed an inventory review, so the number you're quoted is the number you pay unless you add items.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Chucktown Heroes is a licensed household goods carrier in South Carolina and carries full liability and cargo insurance. License and DOT numbers are listed in the footer of every page.

Do you move items into storage if my closing dates don't align?

Yes. Our storage solutions let the same crew that packs your truck load directly into a climate-monitored unit, so you're not coordinating a second moving company for the storage leg.

What don't you move?

Accepted Answer

We don't transport hazardous materials (propane, gasoline, paint, ammunition) or perishable food. Firearms, cash, and irreplaceable documents should travel with you rather than on the truck.

Can I get an estimate without an in-home visit?

Yes, a video walkthrough or a detailed room-by-room inventory list works for most local and long-distance estimates. In-home visits are available for larger homes or complex moves.
